I really enjoy living close to the city center but every now and then it's great to be able to take a break and head to the countryside. When I feel like that I often head to where I grew up and where my parents still live. Although Espoo is the second largest city in Finland there's A LOT of space for those who seek it. Many friends who don't know the city usually just think of Espoo as a suburb to Helsinki.
I was encouraged by my parents to go skating and I'm glad i did. I've never been a huge fan of ice skating rinks but skating on a lake is something completely different.
Some other skaters had also found their way to this hidden paradise. The track is maintained by a friendly neighbour who lives next door to my parents.

Winter is coming
Winter is finally here with temperatures below - 20 °C. I took a long walk along the shoreline today when we have a public holiday. With the right clothing these temperatures aren't that extreme. Unfortunately my old vintage lens didn't agree and the focusing mechanism got so stiff that I was forced to change the lens to a wide angel one. Perhaps that wasn't too bad because I got more varied photos this way.

Seurasaari
Seurasaari Island is where I most often head when I want to go out running. This time is was there on new year's day whit my camera. The layers look beautiful when the sea hasn't yet frozen completely. Soon there will be just ice which means that the winter swimming season is just about to begin for me.
